Jan. 12th, 2009 @ 11:49 pm Billf in a minute
Here's the super compressed version of what has been happening the past 2 years:

I've had the same girlfriend for 2 years now as of the end of January, I've lived with her for just over a year in our own apartment with 2 cats. I still work at Wal-Mart, selling phones now, my girlfriend, Amber, recently got fired from working for said Wal-Mart for bullshit reasons, but she has a job interview on Wednesday that looks promising.

I have no money, I hate my suck ass job... I'm pretty much in the same situation I was 8 years ago, only I have 2 kitties and an awesome girlfriend, so things are steadily getting better.

No more super retarded Assistant Manager at work!

This week I'm working in the toy department on overnights to finish a project, then I go to Photo Lab on saturday where I'll finally start getting some halfway reasonable hours (they close at 9 and I've been working 2-11PM).

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non addictive, gender neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religieus persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2007, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere. Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee.

By accepting these greetings, you are accepting the aforementioned terms as stated. This greeting is not subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for herself/himself/others, and is void where prohibited by law and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher. This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wish.

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

Last month I turned [info]gareth_rehal in for littering (3 points). Last Monday I ruled Canada as a cruel and heartless dictator (-700 points). In November I gave [info]urbaniak a life-saving blood transfusion (50 points). Last Thursday I invaded Iraq, broke it, and couldn't glue it back together before Mom got home (-1012 points). In May I helped [info]missaiyana across the street (6 points).

Overall, I've been naughty (-1653 points). For Christmas I deserve a moldy sandwich!

Sincerely,
Billf

He certainly isn't sleeping.

Instead he's goofing off with his art programs and making himself Venture Bros themed forum sigs.

As always; Stop using Internet Explorer people. It can't handle PNG transparencies correctly.

Feb. 23rd, 2006 @ 03:10 pm I lurning the php
So today a several hundred pound package was delivered to me containing 2 books on PHP, Beginning PHP 5 and My Sql: From Novice to Professional and PHP5 and MySql Bible.

There is quite a bit of reading, both books around 100 or so pages. I don't really expect to read both books from cover to cover as they both go over pretty much the same thing, but I'm not sure which one I'll focus on more yet, probably the PHP Bible since that is the one that most people suggested I get, and the other one I only bought because it was on sale if I bought the two of them together from Amazon.

Various factors prompted me to get these books. I am not really one to do scripting or programming. I always left that up to my friend Steve while I did the design stuff, but seeing as how I haven't seen Steve in over a year now, I guess if I want to keep doing web stuff I had better learn some of this shit myself, eh? Also, I'm bored as hell and figure I might as well learn something while I'm sitting around not working.

I've been considering learning php for a couple of years now. I've been working with it in online forums since 2003, but never really learned anythign about it until almost a year ago when Sights0d and I started Forumninja.com last April. Then a couple of months later I tried implimenting the Gmaercard mod and... well, the programming sucked on it. I knew what was wrong with it, I just had no clue how to fix it. I begged someone else to patch it up and things were good for a while. That little episode did throw the idea of learning PHP for myself back into my brain, but I was poor so I couldn't afford the books and living in Sherburne where I really didn't have anywhere to buy the books from other than online, so I just put the idea off for a while.

Now a few months later I'm even poorer than before seeing as how I don't have a job, I'm living in a different, slightly less crappy town that does have a bookstore, but still doesn't have crap as far as selection goes concerning computer related books, and forget about them being up to date. Around the same time I was moving Sights and I decided we were going to switch forumninja from phpBB over to CPGNuke. This was going to cause me to have to redo the gamercard mod since it wasn't exactly the same as the phpBB code. I tried hacking my way through the code by myself since the new forum is based off of phpBB, only with a bunch of added features to it, but I just couldn't get it to work. I was thinking of trying to convince someone else to beat the code into working order for me, but I was really determined to get it done myself... plus I was bored out of my mind and thanks to a local videogame store buying a ton of my old games and giving me a decent amount of cash back for them, I decided to just go ahead and buy a book and do something with all this time I have on my hands.

I have been working on converting forumninja.com over to some new software for quite a while now, but could never get ti quite right until just a few days ago. Now that all the testing is done it is time to go live with things. It's pretty damn cool... or at least I'd like to think so.

The past couple of days working at SUNY Oneonta have been pretty busy, today especially got a little hectic a couple of times, but there wasn't the dreaded 2 hour wait line that we were all told was going to happen today. Probably because weather was total crap. I think the longest anyone spent waiting in line was maybe 15 minutes today.

My biggest complaint of the day? MUMMBLING! Damn it! There are at least 15 people down here, all of them talking, and you sounding like you are trying to talk while eating your socks is not fucking helping.

So, big bad football player and daddy's little princess; speak the fuck up! I can't understand a damn word you say.

Under normal circumstances I don't really like a New Jersey accent, but today I love NJers because they know how to speak overtop of people.

Oh yeah, I was also complimented several times today about how fast I was working compared to everyone else, one time even by a professor. Go go billfy speedy feet!

Current Mood: sarcastic
Since I never make entries anymore, I'll make 2, and THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO STOP ME!

So as I said before, I went to this temp agency place earlier this week. I had to fill out a bunch of paperwork and then do some basic math, spelling and comparison tests (2 blocks of text, usually addresses or SKUs right next to each other, some were slightly different, others were exactly the same). I had 2 minutes to complete the comparison section. I did it in less than half of that and got them all correct. I guess all that stupid QA stuff at Kenyon Press was worth a little something. I also did well on the math section too, which is surprising since I suck at math.

The last thing I did was a typing test for both speed and accuracy. I did pretty well on the database section of the typing test, well above average, and i did 42 words per minute with 100% accuracy on the text portion.

That means lots of fun fun data entry jobs for the billf man! WHEE!

I was even told that I'd do well for data entry work. I think I begged and cried at that point, I can't be too sure though, it is all a blur.

Jan. 14th, 2006 @ 02:18 am I'll never do THAT again!
Most of you probably don't know, but on weds I went to Staffworks (a temp agency) because I was tired of not having a damn job and they gave me a position at the college bookstore from that Thursday (the 12th) until the 27th. Only a little over 2 weeks, and it's a boring job, but it is better than no job.

Basically I am there for the begining of the spring semester. My job is to take the scheduels from students (preferably really cute female students) and then run through the 4 aisles grabbing the books that they'll need for their classes. Exciting, eh?

The worst part of it all is the walk up there. I could almost throw a rock from the college to the apartment, but not the other way around since the college is way up ontop of a hill... a steep hill... with no roads on the side facing me. So it is either I get some climbing gear, or I have to walk well over a mile to get to the school, all uphill of course, in the snow, barefoot, both ways, and we were thankful for it.

Ok, maybe the barefoot and both ways isn't quite right, but the rest is.

So, anyway... on to the point.

Since the school was quite a walk, as I found out on Thursday, I decided to leave a little early on friday and then just sit down for 15 minutes or so before clocking in. I managed to get there about 10 minutes after 8am, 20 minutes before I had to punch in when my supervisor sees me hanging up my coat she turns to her manager and asks her what to do with all of the people I work with since it will be close to 9 before things get up and running in the textbook room. The manager says that they could double check all the book prices and she'd take one person to help clean since one of the people who usually comes in at 8 to help clean called in sick that morning. Now, since I was standing there, guess who got volunteered?

Go me!

So instead of getting to sit down after 45 minutes of walking up a big ass hill (you midwestern and southerners would call it a small mountain, but there are still trees up there, it is a damn hill), I got to vaccum.

YAY!
